Frendly Sperm Whales

Yes! The some group of sperm whales continues on South Coast of São Miguel Island.
Today we make two trips. We spotted the sperm whales again! They are more close to Ponta Delgada town and our base. With a perfect day we just run a few miles to get the whales: a group of females and calves. Just around, the group was control by a huge male.
The group stays calm, sailing slowly with curiosity and controlling the movements of the boats. After a long time on surfer the group decided to dive: one after each other. In the afternoon trip the same behaviour but this time the male decides to breaching one time, another…five times in a row.
The bottlenose and common dolphins was spotted as usually; they are our friends of every days.

Finally... continued observations!

...With sperm whales and always with our resident friends the dolphins (commons and bottlenose).
Since the 6º of May the weather gets a little bit better and aloud good observations.
Almost every day we saw the same family of sperm whales (the white spotted one)south of Água de Pau/Ponta Garça, and not far from land.
The bottlenose adopt the summer residence in Caloura, and it's always garanted the sigths.
The common dolphins are a little bit far away, but all the time available to have fun with ours boats.
The risso's seams few and lost.
No baleen whales. What a shame!
