Sei whales, sperm whales, common dolphins and more all in one day

Today was a beautiful day for whale watching, and once again there were plenty of whales, dolphins, and other marine species for us to see here off São Miguel island. There were a large number of sei whales passing, both to the West and East of the island today. In both the morning and afternoon tours we saw at least 5 different sei whales travelling together as a group. In the morning, on our way to the whales we were also surprised by our resident common dolphins that came leaping towards the boat. In the afternoon sperm whales were seen as a bonus in a addition to the sei whales. We were also lucky to have very clear water today, so that this morning we also spotted a small shark and a loggerhead turtle. There´s always plenty to see here off beautiful São Miguel island!!

One of the Sei whales that passed close by the island today. This is the best time of year to come here to see a variety of baleen whales migrating past our shores.
