7 cetacean species in one day!!!

Today we had another incredible day of whale watching and swimming with dolphins in São Miguel!
In both the morning and afternoon we sighted 5 different cetacean species, making up a total of 7 differen species throughout the day: sperm whales, sei whales, pilot whales, bottlenose dolphins, common dolphins, striped dolphins and Risso's dolphins. The weather was perfect and our customers will be leaving with many great memories of their experiences. A few lucky people on our zodiac boat in the morning were treated to a show from the sperm whales, which included a few breaches (the whale jumping out of the water) and lobtails (tail slapping on the surface of the water). The afternoon was just as great with a suprise appearance of two sei whales as well as the sperm whales. Here are a few of our photos from today:

Two more tails to end the tour. The whale with its tail up is one we can easily recognise and refer to as "mancha branca"
