This morning we encountered the first whale of the new year - a sperm whale! The large whale spent about 10 minutes on the surface, taking big breaths and releasing big blows as it was preparing for the next deep dive. In the end we all got to see the most prized moment - the whale's beautiful tail as is went down into the depths. Unfortunately our biologist aboard today did not capture any images, so we welcome anybody that was on this morning's tour to send in your photos or videos so that we may be able to identify the whale. Those people on this morning's tour were also lucky to come across three loggerhead turtles (one of which they were able to observe well) and a large spread out group of common dolphins.
