A visit from a fin whale

Today we had a visit from a fin whale, a nice surprise for us this time of the year. Most baleen whales such as the fin whale, blue whale and sei whale migrate past during the spring months, mostly between March and early June. This is the second time we have seen a fin whale this month, the first individual was seen on the 1st of July. Today we also encountered a large group of Risso's dolphins (with two gorgeous newborn calves and also a bottlenose dolphins in the group) in the morning, Atlantic spotted dolphins in the afternoon and common dolphins all throughout the day. Another typical day in the Azores!
