A perfect summer's day with dolphins

Today is one of those perfect summer days in the Azores, in which the water is crystal clear and calm as a lake. This is perfect for watching dolphins bowriding around our boats, which is just what we did during our morning tour. We encountered 3 different dolphins species during this tour: bottlenose dolphin, common dolphin and Atlantic spotted dolphin. The spotted dolphins were in a very calm patch of ocean so watching them was like watching dolphins flying as there was not a ripple in the ocean here. Our swimmers also had the chance to swim with all of these 3 species.

During the afternoon we encountered the same species of dolphins. This time the bottlenose dolphins were first in line and they were just outside the marina of Ponta Delgada where we depart from. A bit further out we encountered two different groups of Atlantic spotted dolphins, that had many small babies. Then just before arriving back to base, when we thought we had seen it all for the day, we encountered the last group of common dolphins just outside Ponta Delgada.
