Early this morning one of our lookouts on land spotted the blow of some sperm whales out to the south of São Miguel Island. He only saw them briefly and then there were no more signs of them. We don't know which direction they were travelling, but we tried our luck anyway and went to the area to search for them. We searched and we searched but unfortunately we did not find them. But, you never know if you don't try right? The good thing is that we had some great dolphin encounters (common dolphins and bottlenose dolphins) to make our morning. For some of our clients these encounters were really a highlight of their life, as they were absolutely delighted to have this opportunity of observing wild dolphins all around the boat. It was a very emotional experience for these clients, as well as for the crew who are always happy to have these real wildlife enthusiasts aboard.
