A day with 5 cetacean species

Today we had encounters with 5 different cetacean species. In the morning we had sperm whales to the east so we had some nice encounters with the individuals in this group. We did not recognise the group but only after seeing our ID photos can we confirm if we sighted any new individuals that we can add to our catalogue. After our sperm whale encounters we found a nice group of bottlenose dolphins and the clients on our full day program also encountered some Atlantic spotted dolphins. In the afternoon we saw three different dolphin species, the sperm whales were nowhere to be found. Even in the absence of whales we enjoyed lovely encounters with common dolphins, Atlantic spotted dolphins and later a small group of Risso's dolphins. The Risso's dolphins were socialising, very active at the surface so it was a nice way to end the day.
