3 species of whales and 3 species of dolphins

The whales and dolphins keep invading São Miguel with their beauty! Six species today, in the morning we saw a sperm whale male and a fin whale, and both common and striped dolphins. In the afternoon we encountered a humpback whale, two sperm whale males and a fin whale, plus bottlenose dolphins (Bubblemaker) and common dolphins. A busy day, and maybe there will be more as the boat is still our there searching for more.

Full Morning!

What a morning full of species!!

We started our trip with a shy Fin Whale and we follow to an area full of Sperm Whales. After, we found a group of Common Dolphins really curious about our boats. Close to land we sighted a Humpback Whale. It was a little bit shy, but every time it showed up to breath, came closer and closer to our boats. As if it was not enough for the day, at the end of the trip our lookout found an excelent group of Bottlenose Dolphins already known by us.

A lovely fin whale

Today we encountered a fin whale that were both curious towards boats but also playful and tricky. We started good with this whale and then it wanted a break from us, to soon return and check the boats out. But there were more whales in the area. Our lookout didn't see any dolphins so we set of for a search but then the great news came on the radio and we got a wonderful group of common dolphins with at least 3 new born babies. They were enjoying the waves and surfing a lot. One of our boats were also lucky to encounter 2 loggerhead turtles.

Tricky whales

Today it was not easy to see the Wales. Diving constantly made our job really difficult, but we did it!! We saw Fin and Sei Whales. In the morning we still had a chance to see a beautiful group of calm common dophins.

Baby blue

First blue whale of the year, first two blue whales of the year: a mother with her baby. In the morning we had an amazing time with fin whales but also common dolphins in a sea like a mirror. In the afternoon we started with common dolphins, later on abour 30 bottlenose dolphins, then the size just kept increasing, fin whales followed by the largest animal in the world: blue whale. We also had a third tour going out and they are now watching false killer whales. But we have to wait a bit to get an update of what they are seeing.

Beautiful reward

In the morning it was going to be a whale day without dolphins but one of our boats managed to find a small group of common dolphins. The rest of us had to be happy with "only" a curious fin whale. We were of course more then happy. In the afternoon we saw both common and bottlenose dolphins and we went to search for whales, and luckily our captain found a fin whale for us. Another great day on the sea!
